Directions For Use

For use only on cats or kittens over 12 weeks old and weighing more than 1.5 kg. DO NOT use on kittens under 12 weeks of age. Do not use on cats or kittens weighing less than 1.5 kg. Consult a veterinarian before using on sick, aged, pregnant or nursing animals or animals receiving drug or other pesticide treatment. This product contains permethrin. DO NOT apply another pest control product such as a spot on, collar or powder which contains permethrin to the treated animal when using SERGEANT’S FLEA & TICK SPRAY FOR CATS. Shake well before using. Hold can in upright position 25-30 cm from cat and spray entire body beginning at tail and working towards the head. DO NOT spray face, eyes or genitals. As you spray, fluff the hair so that spray will penetrate to the skin but spray only until hair is damp - not wet. Spray ticks directly. Treatment must only be repeated if pest problem reoccurs. DO NOT spray more than once a week. Use ONLY in well-ventilated areas, preferably outdoors. A veterinarian should be consulted when pest infestation continues to be a problem on the cat. For effective flea and tick control, treatment of the cat should be combined with sanitation of any area used by the pet. Vacuum floors, carpets and furniture (discard vacuum bag after use) and wash the cat’s bedding, living quarters and surrounding areas. If pest problems persist, a premise treatment with an insecticide labelled for that use may be required. FOR USE INDOORS TO KILL FLEAS AND TICKS ON BUILDING SURFACES OF THE HOME. DO NOT apply indoors as a broadcast application. ONLY perimeter, spot or crack and crevice applications are permitted indoors in residential areas. Indoor perimeter application is less than 0.3 m wide along the edges of a room to baseboards, wall-floor and ceiling-wall joints, and around doorways or windows. Spot application is localized to a surface area not more than 0.2 m2. Spots are not to be adjoining. The combined area of spots is not to exceed 10% of the total surface area of a room. Crack and crevice is an application directly into narrow openings on the surface of the structure. It does not include the treatment of exposed surfaces. Narrow openings typically occur at expansion joints, utility entry points and along baseboards and mouldings. DO NOT apply to furniture, mattresses, linens, toys or clothing. DO NOT apply to overhead areas or in confined spaces (for example, attics, crawlspaces, small storage rooms, closets). Ventilate treated areas after application by opening windows and doors or using fans where required to aid in the circulation of air. DO NOT apply when people or pets [or livestock] are present. DO NOT allow people or pets [or livestock] to enter treated areas until sprays have dried. DO NOT allow spray to drip or allow drift onto non-target surfaces. DO NOT apply as a space spray. Spray infested areas such as cat’s bed and resting quarters, nearby cracks and crevices, along and behind baseboards, window and door frames and localized areas of floor and floor covering. Remove old bedding and floor covering and replace with fresh, clean bedding after treatment.

PRECAUTIONS: PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL HAZARDS: Caution Flammable: Contents under pressure. DO NOT place in hot water or near radiators, stoves or other sources of heat. DO NOT puncture or incinerate container even when empty. DO NOT store at a room temperature over 50°C. Keep away from open flames or sparks.

HUMANS: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through skin. May irritate eyes, nose and throat. Avoid contact with mouth, eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid breathing fumes or vapours. Wear rubber gloves during application of this product. Avoid contact with treated animals until dried. After handling or applying, wash hands (or any other skin that came into contact with the product) with soap and water. Avoid product contact with food, food utensils or places where food is prepared or stored.

PETS: Harmful if swallowed or inhaled. May irritate eyes, nose and throat. Avoid direct spray of cat’s mouth, face, eyes and genitals. Toxic to fish and other aquatic life. Cover fish aquaria in vicinity of treatment area. Toxic to birds.

FIRST AID: IF ON SKIN OR CLOTHING: Take off contaminated clothing. Rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. Call a poison control centre or doctor for treatment advice. IF SPRAYED IN EYES: Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye. Call a poison control centre or doctor for treatment advice. IF ACCIDENTALLY SWALLOWED: Call a poison control centre or doctor immediately for treatment advice. Do not induce vomiting unless told to do so by a poison control centre or doctor. Do not give any liquid to the person. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

PETS: Sensitivities may occur after using ANY pesticide for pets. If signs of sensitivity occur, bathe the pet with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water. If signs continue, consult a veterinarian immediately. Take container, label or product name and P.C.P. Registration Number with you when seeking medical or veterinary attention.

TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION: Treat symptomatically. This product contains petroleum distillate.

Disposal

When container is empty, press valve to release pressure. Dispose of empty container in regular household garbage.
