Monodine Indications

A detergent sanitizer for use in the dairy food industry.

Dosage and Administration

Monodine is a concentrated product. Must be diluted before using.

Sanitizing with Monodine: To sanitize previously cleaned equipment and utensils, dip, brush, or spray the equipment with a solution of Monodine at 1 oz. of Monodine to four (4) gallons of water. Provides 25 ppm titratable iodine. Allow at least a two (2) minute contact time. Allow the equipment to drain well but do not rinse. When used at levels not exceeding 25 ppm titratable iodine, Monodine does not require a potable water rinse.

Udder washing with Monodine: Approximately one (1) minute before applying the milking unit, wash and massage the teats with a clean paper towel wetted with a solution of Monodine at 1/2 oz. to two (2) gallons of water at 110°F. Provides 25 ppm titratable iodine. Never reuse towels or dip a used towel back into the solution. Always use freshly prepared solutions and non-corrodible utensils.

For general cleaning and disinfecting in one (1) operation, use 3 oz. Monodine to four (4) gallons of water. For porous or extremely dirty surfaces, use 6 oz. to four (4) gallons of water. Food contact surfaces should be rinsed with potable water whenever the use rate exceeds 1 oz. to four (4) gallons water.

Precaution(s): Keep from freezing.

Caution(s): Danger. Corrosive - Causes eye damage and skin irritation. Keep out of the reach of children.

First Aid: Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing. Protect the eyes and skin when handling. Harmful if swallowed. Avoid the contamination of food.

In case of contact, immediately flush the eyes or skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. For eyes, call a physician. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

If swallowed, promptly drink a large quantity of milk, egg whites, gelatin solution or if these are not available, drink large quantities of water. Call a physician immediately.

Note to physician: Probable mucosal damage may contraindicate the use of gastric lavage. Measures against circulatory shock, respiratory depression and convulsion may be needed. Rinse the empty container thoroughly with water and discard it.
