LincoMed 100 Indications

For treatment of infectious arthritis in swine caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Erysipelothrix spp., and Mycoplasma spp., and for the treatment of swine dysentery.

Dosage and Administration

Administer intramuscularly, 1 mL per 10 kg body weight once daily at first signs of infection and continue treatment for 3 to 7 days.

CAUTIONS: Use only in swine. If no improvement is noted within 48 hours, the diagnosis should be re-evaluated. Loose stools following treatment have been rarely reported but the diarrhea is usually mild and transient. It is not recommended that LincoMed 100 be used to treat or control outbreaks of swine dysentery. This is more readily achieved through the drinking water or feed since all animals in a barn must be treated. The use of LincoMed 100 in extremely sick or moribund pigs suffering from swine dysentery is recommended until appetite and/or water consumption improvements allow adequate intake of oral medication.

Warnings

Treated animals must not be slaughtered for use in food for at least 48 hours after the latest treatment with this drug. Keep out of reach of children.

STORAGE: Store between 15°C and 25°C. Protect from freezing. Use within 28 days following withdrawal of first dose.
