Applies to gepirone: oral tablet extended release.
General
The most common adverse reactions occurring in 5% of patients or more included dizziness, nausea, insomnia, abdominal pain, and dyspepsia. The most common reactions leading to treatment discontinuation included dizziness and nausea.[Ref]
Cardiovascular
Common (1% to 10%): Increased heart rate, palpitations
Dermatologic
Common (1% to 10%): Hyperhidrosis
Gastrointestinal
Very common (10% or more): Nausea (35%), diarrhea (10%)
Common (1% to 10%): Abdominal pain, constipation, dry mouth, dyspepsia, increased appetite, vomiting
Abdominal pain included abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, and upper abdominal pain.
Hypersensitivity
Frequency not reported: Hypersensitivity reactions including rash, pruritus, and urticaria
Metabolic
Common (1% to 10%): Weight increased, peripheral edema (less than 2%)
Other
Common (1% to 10%): Feeling jittery, breast tenderness (less than 2%), increased energy (less than 2%)
Psychiatric
Very common (10% or more): Insomnia (14%)
Common (1% to 10%): Agitation, confusional state (less than 2%), feeling abnormal (less than 2%), poor quality sleep (less than 2%)
Insomnia included initial insomnia, insomnia, middle insomnia, and terminal insomnia.
Respiratory
Common (1% to 10%): Nasal congestion, nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, dyspnea (less than 2%)
Nervous system
Very common (10% or more): Dizziness (49%), headache (31%), feeling sleepy or tired (15%),
Common (1% to 10%): Lethargy, paresthesia, abnormal thinking (less than 2%), hypoesthesia (less than 2%)
Dizziness included lightheadedness, dizziness, and postural dizziness.
Headache included sinus headache, tension headache, and headache.
Feeling sleepy or tired included fatigue, sedation, and somnolence.
