Vicodan is a common misspelling of Vicodin (acetaminophen/hydrocodone).

What is Vicodin (Vicodan)?

Vicodin (Vicodan) is a narcotic painkiller used in the management of moderate to moderately severe pain. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Vicodin (Vicodan) dosage should be adjusted according to the severity of the pain and the response of the patient. However tolerance to hydrocodone can develop with continued use and the incidence of adverse effects is related to the dosage.

Common adverse reactions include: lightheadedness, dizziness, sedation, nausea and vomiting.

Do not use Vicodin (Vicodan) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Vicodin (Vicodan) or any other codeine or morphine-related medicine (eg, codeine, oxycodone) or if you have diarrhea associated with poisoning, antibiotic use, or a bacterial infection (from eating or drinking contaminated food or water) or if you are taking sodium oxybate (GHB).
