For Social Anxiety Disorder "I am in my 40s and I suffered a panic attack for the first time while driving. My friend said try Zoloft, so I saw the doctor for it. I kept a log first entry dated May 1, 2018. Day 1 on Zoloft: 'I felt tired, a little dizzy, brain fog - woke up a couple of times feeling weird, not myself. I had stomach upset and diarrhea.' Day 2: 'I woke up feeling like a zombie. I was very tired, no emotion, but I had to get up. When I was driving & came to a stoplight, I felt very anxious.' 'I hope I'm making the right decision to start meds but do I have a choice???' Day 3 & 4: '...felt tired, having brain fog. My stomach is rumbling & a little nausea but it is manageable.' Day 8: 'I woke up feeling tired and right now I feel a little anxiety.' Day 17: 'It's been over 2 weeks & I am driving with little to no anxiety!' I have been on Zoloft 25 mg for 2 years now. Because of reading other people's reviews, I knew what to expect & that kept me going!"

For Panic Disorder "I have been taking Zoloft for a month now, and holy cow, it is a miracle drug for me and my panic disorder. I was diagnosed with Anxiety/Panic disorder and Moderate Major Depression, so far it has worked! I started out on 25 mg for a week, and after that week went to 50 mg. (I'm small, female). I did have a few side effects the first week (feeling 'out of it', night sweats, and just generally feeling the medication), but after that week, my mood has improved. I laugh more and feel like my old self, less anxious, and I haven't had a panic attack. I will probably be on Zoloft for the rest of my life, and I'm okay with that because I love how I feel on this medication. I've never taken any other medication, but this one has helped me get back into hobbies that I was too depressed to enjoy and be able to perform tasks that used to make me anxious, even simple tasks."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have been taking 100mg Zoloft daily for almost 8 years, and I find it really helps with OCD, especially the dulling of intrusive thoughts that would normally cause me a lot of distress, anxiety and were quite frankly ruining my life. I am now at a stage where I am wondering whether I should attempt to wean myself off this drug, but am increasingly anxious about coming off the drug, as it has been so successful. I've had a few side effects, such as a reduced attention span and weight gain, but all in all, the drug has helped me live a normal life, with only two relapses in the eight years I've been on them. Both times I've relapsed, I have received help from a counsellor or CBT, but have stayed on the drug throughout, maintaining a steady dosage."

For Depression "Zoloft has been a life saver for me. I honestly don't know how I would've gotten through the past year without it. I had anxiety and depression, but after I started taking Zoloft, I was finally starting to feel myself again and my headaches have gone away. If you have moderate to severe anxiety and depression, I would highly recommend this. It truly saved me."

For Depression "Last February to April, I had a really bad bout with anxiety and depression. I tried Prozac and Cymbalta and had really bad side effects with both of them. I started 25mg of Zoloft in May 2020. About a month later, I went to 50mg and now am up to 75mg. I may even consider going to 100mg. The anxiety was better pretty quickly; the fatigue/depression took a bit longer, still some improvement needed, but so much better. I have also noticed that my PMS is barely noticeable. Very little to no agitation in the days before my period. My advice would be to increase slowly and allow time for improvement. It is gradual and can take months, but worth the wait."

For Panic Disorder "I promised myself that if this drug made my life better, I would come back to comment on this thread. I'm a 21-year-old male and started Zoloft about 3 months ago after being on Remeron for 4 years for GAD and Panic Disorder. I had no appetite, lost 20 pounds in about 2 weeks, throwing up twice a day, multiple panic attacks, and was in a dark place. My doctor suggested I try Zoloft to which I reluctantly agreed. I was titrated up to 150mg in about a week. My first week was awful. It spiked my anxiety, I felt extremely tense, racing thoughts, nausea, pacing around, etc. The second week I felt extremely numb, emotionless, and just out of it. My least favorite side effect was brain fog. Eight weeks later and I felt amazing, I'm back to my old self but a lot more confident and happy. My advice is don't look at your progress day to day but rather week to week; you'll see the improvement. I came on here every day my first few weeks looking for hope that things would get better, and now they are. :)"

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Suffering with existential OCD alongside with DP/DR episodes. I went to the psychiatrist and was prescribed Zoloft. In the 1st week, 25mg, in the 2nd week, 50mg, and in the 3rd week, 100mg until the end of month 1. The first 3 weeks were so awful, especially when I started with the 100mg tablets. I even had suicidal thoughts to the point where I couldn't even relate to anything. 4 days after the 100mg dose adjustments and everything is fine, more like a magic pill. This drug is awesome, but beware that you will feel way worse before you start to feel better! And every dose adjustment seems to reset the process."

For Depression "I started taking 50mg generic sertraline about 2 weeks ago. I have had a very good experience with it and I love it. Thank God for this medicine and the improvements that it makes on the brain chemistry. Only experienced diarrhea for 1 day (which was okay for me because I've always struggled with constipation which only contributed to fatigue and depression). I'm more social (before I didn't care about doing much, even though I wanted to go out, when it came time to, I would end up going to bed), more easy going, less irritable and cranky. So much more patient with my kids. No side effects for me. Oh and I'm not eating ravenously at night because of stress and anxiety like I used to so it's helping me lose weight. Yay!"

For Depression "I've been reading a lot of reviews on this site. Let me tell those who are new to this or thinking of going on sertraline. I have had horrible side effects with medication and got serotonin syndrome on citalopram. I was scared to death of going on sertraline. I'm on day 17 on 50mg, and I honestly say I've not had one single side effect at all. It's starting to hit me, and I feel amazing. One hundred times better than having anxiety. Wow."

For Panic Disorder "I never ever review anything but after being on this drug for now 4 weeks, I felt the need to review. I was previously on Zoloft (25mg) for 2 years before going off of it, and it was AMAZING. 6 months after stopping it, I could feel my anxiety slowly coming back and decided to go back on Zoloft (25mg). The first 3 weeks were horrible. I would wake up every morning with extreme anxiety, nausea/vomiting, and felt really out of it. For those 3 weeks, I had no energy or appetite (lost 10 lbs) which is hard when you need to work and go to school! I was living in a foggy state of 24/7 anxiety and felt like I couldn't escape from it. I knew it was the medicine making it worse, but I wanted to ride it out since I had positive experiences before. FINALLY after 4 weeks, I am starting to feel back to normal. I can get up in the morning without crippling anxiety and dread, attend school, and enjoy my relationship. Please give this medication AT LEAST 6-8 weeks to work. It eventually gets easier!"

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I don't see why some say 'I don't recommend this medication.' Why don't you? Please tell us: the dosage, other medications you are taking, age, etc. I am considering starting Zoloft but when I read these reviews, I don't know what is better, having these panic attacks or trying Zoloft. Everybody is unique so it would be a great help if anyone would give a better description of their situation. I thank all those who gave a great explanation of their situation."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "After suffering years from watching my husband and son die next to me in a car wreck, I have finally, after 3 years, been able to date and move past my life-altering tragedy. Although Zoloft is not a cure-all, it blocks the horrible images, clears your mind, and gives you a positive boost. I'm not sure where I would be without it. 100mg a day has been most effective."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I started having suicidal thoughts very suddenly and out of the blue, accompanied by unstoppable crying. When I saw my doctor, she asked about other symptoms like irritability, weight gain and difficulty meeting goals, doing the basics like keeping the house clean and personal care. All of these were issues for me, accruing over a year or longer. I didn't know I had depression, or that I'd had it before. Every crappy thing about my life was related to symptoms of depression. This medication Zoloft took about 8 weeks to work and has been life-changing. I've been happy, not cranky, I've started losing weight, tidying up, decorating my home, calling friends again. Thank you to the doctors and researchers responsible, the thoughts have stopped and life is better than ever before."

For Depression "Coming on here to share my positive experience to add to the other great reviews that I read religiously to get me through one of the hardest times of my life. 6 weeks ago, due to overcommitting and overwhelming myself for months, my depression and anxiety came back full force. I started having suicidal thoughts multiple times a day and couldn’t even go to work. I started on 50mg of Zoloft. I’ve been on Prozac and lexapro in the past and don’t remember either of them helping but this has been a GAME CHANGER. It took 6 weeks but I finally feel like the normal unanxious happy person I used to be so long ago. Do not give up on this medication!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "5 years ago, I was a mess due to a bad breakup, drug & alcohol abuse & family issues. 8 months later stopped all substances & decided to go clean. That made me face reality, I suffered from PTSD, deep depression, severe anxiety & panic attacks & OCD, I was suicidal I couldn't stop over analyzing every single thought, my brain wouldn’t stop, and I had the craziest thoughts ever that I was so sure that I am going crazy. Finally, after 5 years I decided I need help. I tried many meds & NOTHING worked! I really believed that no med would do.Tried cepralex, seroquel, olizapen & others. Finally, Zoloft was the last solution, starting with 25 mg for 4 days then up to 50mg for 6 weeks. I noticed the change! Then on the 7th week, 75mg then finally 100mg. The side effects are horrible yes, increased anxiety and panic, loss of appetite and all, 6 weeks after increasing to 100 mg I swear I can jump and scream from happiness! & I am full of energy and hope! Plz give Zoloft time to work!"

For Depression "I'm writing this post because I spent a lot of time researching online about Zoloft side effects before I finally decided to try it for my OCD/depression. I made a mental note to let other people considering this drug know what it was like after I tried it as well. I was worried that it might cause weight gain and that there may be sexual side effects. I was on this medication for 2 years and DID NOT experience weight gain or sexual side effects. The first few months I was on it, I had some stomach upset and trouble sleeping, but that disappeared shortly after. I have maintained a consistent body weight (within 5 lbs.) for years, and Zoloft did not seem to affect my weight at all. I lost a few pounds at first because of the stomach upset."

For Panic Disorder "Hey everyone I’m a 32 year old female that started taking Zoloft a week ago! Your comments really helped me to even start taking it so thanks to everyone that left a review because I’m scared of medicine. I am to leave a review in hopes to help someone like me! I started on 25mg but broke it in half to get it into my system for one week and I will move up to my 25mg but my experience so far I have had sleepless nights, headaches, diarrhea, not really been hungry but y’all don’t let that scare you like it did me. I’m telling you even on a small dose I can tell a small adjustment already and I will be back in another week to update y’all on the dose increase, but take a leap of faith and try it I can already tell I’m feeling some what better just in a week! We are all in this together!"

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I started Zoloft because I was struggling with obsessive, repetitive thoughts about bad things happening to my children, which made me anxious all the time. The first 3 weeks were hell. Even the Klonopin the doctor gave me to get through it didn't help. It felt like my anxiety levels tripled. I could barely function. Between weeks 4-5, I transitioned to just feeling as anxious as I had been before. Then it felt like a balloon was inflating inside my head (in a good way), and the anxious thoughts were bouncing off the balloon instead of being allowed to collect and swirl around torturing me. Then I started having moments of feeling GOOD. And those moments grew into my new reality. My anxiety is 90% better. Zoloft gave me a new life."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "Asking my doctor about Zoloft was one of the best decisions for me. I have suffered from anxiety as long as I can remember. I feel like a new person now. I didn't even fully realize how bad it was until taking Zoloft. I didn't want to take meds; I thought my anxiety was just part of who I was and something I would have to deal with forever. Zoloft has changed my life."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I was suffering from depression my entire life, and I didn't even know it. I'm 32 years old and started taking Zoloft three weeks ago. At first, I suffered from many side effects: insomnia, dizziness, nausea, blurred vision, tired feeling, and even nervousness. It was the worst 10 days of my life. After enduring those 10 days, I was able to look at life differently. I'm able to accept flaws in anything, pardon excuses, laugh with my family and friends comfortably. I can see why people thought I was high maintenance. I was horrible to my family with unrealistic standards."

For Panic Disorder "I’m 38, 20 years of having severe social anxiety & panic disorder. I rang my GP to say I need help. I didn’t know I had any disorders, I just thought “this is who I am & I have to live like this”. I am a nurse, I love my job, but I had severe overthinking of any small comment anyone at work made - I felt like if something went wrong, it was all my fault & not the team’s fault. This made me dread and stress to the max each night about going into work each day. Outside work in my daily life, my social anxiety was so bad that I could hardly go into a shop to buy milk without scanning the place for people. I thought would laugh at comments I made in general chit chat or always feeling like I was inferior to them. I focused on in-laws who would be at upcoming family parties & imagined scenes at the party where I would feel so inferior to them. I kept having visions of my parents collapsing dead. I kept visualizing cars crashing into me when driving! This drug saved me, thoughts are all calm now!"

For Depression "I was crying over the weirdest things and didn't want to get out of bed. Then I started taking Zoloft 50mg daily, a month ago. I felt relief an hour after taking it. The side effects for me were stomach upset, decrease in appetite, and sleepiness. That only lasted a week. After three weeks I increased the dose to 100mg which my doctor suggested in the beginning. I have been on many different antidepressants since I was a teenager and this is the first one that I feel 'normal' on. I don't feel emotionless or stay on a fake happiness high. I feel relieved and can deal with the day-to-day stresses."

For Depression "I've been suffering with depression coupled with anxiety for over 10 years. It's been hell, ruining every aspect of my life (loss of relationships, my business, etc.). After seeing so many psychiatrists, I had lost hope and was getting very close to ending my life, so I tried to get help one more time. For the first time, I met a young doctor who listened. He prescribed me Zoloft 50mg. The change = I left my house within 2 weeks (major agoraphobia for 8 months), started talking to people, going out again with friends, preparing to launch my business again, and I feel happy. Not manic, HAPPY and measured. I'm praying that I stay this way. There is hope out there. Don't give up, guys. :)"

For Depression "I was crippled with anxiety, depression, and nagging intrusive thoughts. Zoloft has allowed me to live again. Please don't allow the stigma and misinformation out there about antidepressants prevent you from getting help and finding relief. Once your body adjusts to Zoloft (this can take upwards of 2-4 weeks), you will find relief and peace. I used a pill cutter to cut the prescribed dose (25 mg) in half and took the half dose for two weeks. Then I increased it to the prescribed dose. This is much easier on the body. Please consider doing this so you're not overcome and discouraged by some of the initial side effects. Good luck, friends."
