"Like the others have stated, I too have used Restasis for years in the single dose vials. Never had an issue product works great. I liked the idea of trying the Multidose as less packaging etc. The new bottle is horrible! I to have had issues with it dispensing 2 drops at a time or not at all. Hard to keep your eyelid open that long when you have dry eyes! Called Restasis to complain was on hold for 30 min. While on hold came across this site. Definitely, faulty packaging problem. Hope they are able to get it fixed. Meanwhile will try to get my insurance to pay for the vials as these are going back. finally"

"I haven’t been using Restasis long enough to know if it’s going to work for me, but I’m having a rough time with the applicator. I’m a veteran eye drop user, having used glaucoma medication for twenty years, and never had a problem. It’s really hard to get a drop of Restasis to emerge, and like others, I lose a lot of the medication in the process. Wish they would change applicators!"

"I agree with all of the negative comments. Did they forget to have people test it? Currently I am using ointment every night. I put it on so thick I can only see shapes and colors. I had used Restasis for ten years and stopped due to price. Went back to it when I had some really bad vision days and found the single bottle a very bad joke."

"In case anyone is wondering, the retail price of a three-month prescription of the multi-use bottles is $1800.99. With insurance and the Allergan coupon, I wound up paying $152.01 out of pocket. Does the medicine work? I'm not sure because I haven't been using it long enough. I can tell you (as others have) that the bottle is a joke. I think it was purposefully designed to waste the product. It is impossible to get one drop out at a time which means you have dollars worth of product running down your cheek. I'm sure folks at Allergan are laughing all the way to the bank. Search YouTube for Restasis and watch the old videos that tout how their product come in one-use vials because the product should be fresh every time you use it. Now they changed their story to say the single use vials are wasting plastic. I'm going to ask my doctor to prescribe the single use vials (if they still make them)."

"Don’t buy the multi dose bottles. Major design flaws. You will never get a full 30 days out of it. I too called the company to complain about the design and how difficult it is to squeeze out this medication. They did nothing except take a lot number. I told them not to ever discontinue the little vials. They are easy and you will get your money’s worth out of them I hate their multi dose ridiculous bottles. Dump them. This drug is way too expensive for their new bottles to give you next to nothing out of them!!"

"Not a fan of the multi-dose bottle. I've got my first prescription of this on August 29th and I am already almost out. And like others have remarked the bottle does not dispense drops properly. That is obvious because I should not be running out of medication this early. And since my insurance will not pay for another round until it's been a month I will have to go without it until a month has passed. But I am not going to buy this multi-dose again not if I can help it. I'm going to go back to the vials."

"I have been using the ampoules since 2012; lots of used amps to discard in the recycle bin, no problem. First multidose bottle: 1) I cannot SEE the drop as it is ready to drip and therefore cannot align to my eye properly. 2) It takes A LOT of squeezing to get a drop to be dosed; in the process... 3)...eye becomes dry being held open so long awaiting drop to be disbursed. I timed my process last night, 5 minutes to get 2 drops; one per eye. The night before, I had a gushing stream down the side of my nose NOT from the tip as far as I could tell. Not impressed, I am requesting to go back to the vials; and another preauthorization process with my insurance."

"There’s a learning curve to using the bottle. It was infuriating for the first couple weeks having $5 bills running down my cheek and only getting 26 days out of the bottle. But if you take your time it does work well and a month is not a problem. This is only month two and the relief I’m getting is absolutely, amazingly WONDERFUL!"

"Restasis SINGLE-DOSE was quite effective and easy to use for my dry eye condition after having intra-ocular lens implant 6-1/2 years ago. I switched to RESTASIS MUTI-DOSE for convenience. But, because of the viscosity/thickness of the MULTI-DOSE liquid it is nearly impossible to dispense. My hand goes into a spasm trying to squeeze just 1 droplet out. Even my big strong husband has struggles with the bottle. Allergan put too much castor oil and glycerin in the MULTI-DOSE formula. I called Express Scripts pharmacist and was advised to throw out the bottle and try a new one, thinking it was faulty. New one was just as bad."

"After years of using the vials I was happy to try the multi-dose application. Sad to say that the drops are very difficult to get out of the bottle. I need 3 bottles for one month which is $100 for me as opposed to the vials which I pay $100 for a 3 month supply. I am going back to the vials."

"First I just want to mention I never post about products but this one has me so annoyed. I have had dry eyes since my laser eye surgery. My eye doctor prescribed restasis. It works, but you need to take it indefinitely. I used the vials and never used the whole thing so I thought switching to the multidose would mean less waste and less plastic. Nope. Just finished my 1st bottle (I think, bottle is impossible to squeeze and get anything out) in only 2 weeks. I might have gotten an extra drop here for there with the multidose bottle. With the vials I always did 2 drops (so not as much went to waste) in each eye and still had some left in the vial. I will be switching back to the vials unfortunately."

"I also hate the new multidose bottle for the same reasons. Hard to apply, nothing comes out, then too much, doesn't last a month etc... The single use vials are much preferable. Over the years my eye doctors have confirmed that it is OK to use the single use vials more than once, until the liquid is consumed, as long as you keep the party used vial in the refrigerator. For this reason, a one month supply lasts at 2 to 3 months and I can justify using a bit more plastic. Compared to all the other ways our society wastes plastic, this is minor in comparison."

"I just started using Restasis a week ago. I have no burning sensation like I did with Xiidra. I have a ways to go to see if it helps me. However, I’m reviewing the multi use bottle. Who in their right mind designed this disaster! I had to look up how to open and use the eye drops with this ridiculously designed bottle. Seriously. It just kept running down my cheek. So my diy around this was to use one of the Systane bottles that was fully used. I pulled the top of the dropper off (the bottle is green which makes it easier to see) and rinsed it out, let it dry then squeezed the Restasis into it. So much easier to see the tip and it’s drugstore length. Just fyi. But the architect of this Restasis bottle should be fired!"

"Restasis - not the greatest. Seems to cause light sensitivity and filminess to where it can be like trying to see thru very light smoke or fog. I have not been impressed. Theratears or something else seems to provide better relief. I think it would be worth investigating to see if Restasis is less effective on people over 60, or who have had ocular implants. The actual price of the stuff seems a real gouge. Fortunately, insurance pays the most of it."

"Used this medication for around one month for dry eyes due to a chemical burn in my left eye. This medication by far has to be the worst dry eye drop on the market. It made my left eye so itchy and the foreign body sensation drove me up a wall having the urge to constantly rub my eye and the burning sensation as well. Stopped the medication and my eye is better."

"Restasis is a great product that I have been successfully using for years. However, this month I was given the multidose bottle, which is so bad that is it enough to make me discontinue Restasis. I have worked in ophthalmology for over 15 years, so I am very proficient at instilling eyedrops. This bottle is as hard as a rock and after squeezing with all your might to get it to work, a stream of drops comes out and 1/4 of the bottle is gone. Absolutely terrible design."

"The mulitdose vial is a disaster as it fails to consistently deliver a drop no matter what I do. The medication appears to be too thick or the hole too small. My copay is $125 for 3 bottles, what a waste. I used the single dose vials for 12 years with excellent results, but my ophthalmologist retired & the new doctor prescribed the multiple dose. I will try and get a new rx for the single dose vials if still available. The manufacturer needs to return to the drawing board on the design of the multiple dose bottle. Hopefully they will do a roll out with a lot of advertising when this occurs so I may try again. I have never tried the competitors product, but now might be a good time."

"I hate this bottle for dispensing drops. It is very difficult to get a drop to fall into your eyes. You have to squeeze the bottle and then wait, wait, wait for the drop or drops to fall. I used single vials previously and they were fine, but I'm not sure that these expensive drops are actually effective in my particular case. I'm checking with my doctor and hopefully can totally get off of these drops."

"Ten years ago, I went through 7mo. of chemo for breast Cancer. In doing so, my tear ducts were affected as well as my eyes. Both eyes felt as though I had stared at someone welding, only my eyes just got worse. I used eye drops and gels for a couple months. And then my doctor prescribed Restasis. During the day, I used the drops and then both eyes would burn for a bit and itch. At night, I used the OTC gel. This gel causes blurred vision, has a cooling effect and puts the fire out. The Restasis was always kept in a cooler when away from home and in the fridge at home. This seemed to take the burn and itch out about half."

"This company needs to heed our warning. If I cannot get Restasis in vials again, I will find another medication with a better bottle or vials. The waste during application is incredible, and considering it’s obscene price, it is highway robbery. Based on so many reviews I am not the only one having problems with their new bottle. Please do something soon or your share value is going to start dropping drastically. Thank you."

"What a rip off in this bottle of Restasis! Allergan needs to be investigated. I never could get drops to even come out even after I inverted the bottle several times. The product is great but your engineering design is pitiful. I bet the engineer who designed the bottle never tested it. I will be returning bottle today for refund. Why mess with a product that has worked for me for last 4 years?"

"RESTASIS MultiDose RESTASIS MultiDose bottle design is the worst I’ve ever seen. The engineers have made it so complex that it takes 5 minutes to get ONE drop in both eyes. I see now why the cost is so high (must be 80% of the cost just in the manufacturing of their bottle). I just started using their product and it may be great (still waiting for the results) but I highly recommend you only use the single-use vials. Unfortunately Humana issued me a 90 day supply of the MultiDose bottles so this is going to be very painful. My guess is this is why so many people stop taking RESTASIS. "

"I have been using Restasis for 3 years, it has helped a lot. I HATE the new bottle. I have to pay a lot for this and it doesn't last the month because the bottle is so hard to squeeze then 2 drops come out just when you give up waiting for it. It's awful! The bottle is the reason I give it a 3 otherwise it would have been higher."
